I think, it's not quite fair comparison. The thing here is the answer to the question how would you deploy pure JAX-RS application? How would you use DI with them? Long time ago Spring killer feature was much easier dev cycle in comparison with EE approach and the web-containers family.

So now-days if you write enterprise app in Java most likely you use Spring eco system and Spring MVC is a native part of it. Besides that they also support JAX-RS (although partially).
